Dr Ignatios Chatziandreou

Dr. Ignatios Chatziandreou is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon with expertise in hip and knee conditions. He has a rich academic and professional background, beginning with his medical studies at the Justus Liebig University of Giessen in Germany from 1995 to 2002. In 2005, he earned his PhD with honors, focusing on the long-term outcomes of conservative therapy using Fettweis splints for treating Graf type III and IV hip dysplasia and dislocation.

Dr. Chatziandreou’s career began in 2002 as a resident physician at the orthopedic clinic of Klinikum Dortmund. He then moved to Bethesda Hospital Essen Ruhr in 2003, where he worked for a year in the Trauma Surgery Clinic. He returned to Klinikum Dortmund, where he spent twelve years developing his expertise. He specialized as both a traumatologist and orthopedic surgeon in 2009 and became the head of the Traumatology service within the Endoprosthetics department in 2011. Dr. Chatziandreou further honed his skills in sports orthopedics and surgery during his time in the sports department at Klinikum Dortmund, and as a member of the medical team for Borussia Dortmund football club.

With over 2,000 primary knee and hip replacements and more than 300 revision surgeries to his name, Dr. Chatziandreou has made significant contributions to the field of orthopedic surgery. His accomplishments have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Premio Pasteur de Medicina, Farmacia e Investigación Biomédica in 2021, awarded by the European Association of Economy and Competitiveness for his exceptional work in healthcare. Additionally, he received the National Medicine Award Siglo XXI in 2023.

Dr. Chatziandreou is also a pioneer in individualized knee arthroplasty and the use of customized implants made through 3D printing technology, advancing the field of orthopedic prosthetics and joint replacement surgery.

Since 2016, Dr. Chatziandreou has lived in Marbella, where he initially served as the coordinator of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at Ochoa Hospital. He performs surgeries at various private hospitals along the Costa del Sol and currently holds private consultations at Clinica Jorge Espada in Sotogrande, Midtown Clinic in Gibraltar, and the German Clinic Marbella. His continued work in these prestigious facilities highlights his dedication to providing top-tier orthopedic care to patients in the region.
